KARACHI:

Following the federal government's announcement on Wednesday that there will be no public holiday on Iqbal Day, schools in Karachi announced that they will remain open.

Education secretary Fazlullah Pechuho told The Express Tribune that they will follow the instructions of the federal government and November 9 will be a regular working day at offices and schools.

Meanwhile, All Private Schools Management Association Sindh chairperson Syed Khalid Shah was of the view that there is still confusion regarding the day as, even though the federal government has announced that there will be no holiday, the Sindh government has yet to issue any notification.

"Such announcements always create confusion among school administrations but, whatever the government decides, schools will follow it," he added. A representative of Habib Girls School said that their school will remain open as per the latest announcement.
