While Pakistani players are being reported for suspect bowling action, there seems to be no check on Indian bowlers
LAHORE: Pakistan off-spinner Saeed Ajmal was banned some time ago due to suspect bowling action. After remodelling his action, he was allowed to play international cricket again but wasn’t as effective as before.
In a recent TV interview, he said that Pakistani bowlers are being targeted unfairly in this regard. After Ajmal was reported for a suspect bowling action, Muhammad Hafeez and Bilal Asif met the same fate. At the same time, according to Ajmal, there seems to be no check on Indian bowlers. Ajmal said that he believes if the bowling actions of some Indian bowlers are tested, they are sure to fail these.
Many Pakistanis share this opinion. But the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has done little to take notice of the issue the way it should. I want to tell Ajmal not to lose heart and work his way into international cricket again. The PCB needs to support its players and protest against the unfair manner in which they have been treated.
