According to a press statement issued by the KMC, the demolition squad equipped with heavy machinery carried out the operation, which also included the demolition of the outer boundary wall. "KMC employees residing in the Jahangir Park quarters had been relocated to the Mustafa Taj Colony of Korangi No 4, where five KMC houses were vacated from the possession of land grabbers and later handed over to the relocated employees," said the press statement.
Court gives KMC seven days to clear Jahangir Park of encroachments
KMC administrator Sajjad Hussain Abbasi had earlier suspended nine officials for not complying with the orders of the SHC. The court had ordered the removal of encroachments from Jahangir Park and shifting the five employees of KMC living in the park to Korangi's Taj Mustafa Colony.
KMC land director Aqeel Ahmed Baig, who was among the suspended employees, told The Express Tribune that five quarters have been vacated out of the total 22 at Korangi's Taj Mustafa Colony for five employees and possession has been handed over to them.
He assured that the rest of the quarters will also be vacated from the possession of the land grabbers. He added that the suspension letter of nine KMC official has also been taken back.
