During a conversation with The Express Tribune, the director revealed that the movie would see him return to the genre he is most at ease with.
“It is a pure comedy film and of the same style as my previous work.” The soundtrack for the rom-com is yet to be finalised. Co-written by Jawad Bashir and Ahmed Abdul Rehman, the film is expected to release in April 2016.
Elaborating upon his focus from horror to comedy, the director said that given his own experience in the genre, it was not much of a hassle. “The reason I worked on Maya before was because I wanted to prove that I can also direct a horror film. Plus, there was a serious lack of horror films in the country; something I wanted to change.”
Film enthusiasts find Waheed Muraad’s Armaan a treat
Unwilling to divulge plot details about the film at such an early stage, the director described the story as “a romantic comedy about confusions in love.” Featuring an ensemble cast with a mix of emerging and seasoned actors like Salman Shahid, Mohib Mirza, Mohsin Abbas Haider, Syra Yousuf, Uzma Khan, Yasir Hussain and Junaid Khan, the movie is expected to go on floors later this month.
“We’ve completed pre-production on the film and will hopefully begin with principal photography towards the end of November,” remarked Bashir. Unlike his previous directorial outing Maya which was filmed in Lahore, his latest movie will be shot in multiple locations such as Nathia Gali, Katasraj ruins and Khanpur.
Teri Meri Love Story is not the only comedy film that Bashir is working on. He has already finalised the script for another comedy which he hopes to start filming as soon as Teri Meri Love Story is wrapped up.
