ISLAMABAD:

The capital’s civic agency on Friday said it is planning to revise building codes after seeking recommendations from structural assessment consultants.

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) aims to overcome short-comings in the codes to avoid future losses. According to a CDA spokesperson, the authority has already tasked reputed structure, design experts and firms to carry out a survey of high-rise buildings in the capital in light of the recent earthquake in the country.

The CDA after seeking input of structure engineers and firms will study the data and revise the building codes in light of given recommendations, he added.

CDA’s emergency and disaster management wing has already deployed various teams after the earthquake to inspect buildings and inspect emergency equipment installed at buildings as well as entry and exit points.
