The affected population in Malakand Division will require help from the international community to deal with challenges presented by the earthquake. This was said by Minister for Local Government Inayatullah Khan quoted in a handout issued on Thursday. He was speaking to rescue and relief authorities, the affected population and the media during his visit to Upper Dir.
Although the federal and provincial governments immediately launched the rescue and relief operation, the earthquake proved most devastating for the people in Malakand.
“The affected population cannot be left alone and international communities should come forward and assist us.”
He added some international organisations have contacted the K-P government, but the affected population is in dire need of urgent relief.
He said there is an urgent need for weather-proof tents, food and medicines.
