A group of thieves and robbers was held in Kokarai on the outskirts of Mingora on Thursday. According to Khanzeb, an official of Kokarai police station, a group of around 45 men appeared in Kabal tehsil three months ago. They would rob people, pelt stones at them and harass women. Khanzeb explained there was widespread panic among people; they feared militants had returned to the area. “Police tightened security and sought help from security forces,” he said. “However, similar incidents of robberies and harassments were reported from other tehsils.” Wednesday night, three culprits who were looting people were arrested in Rasha Ghata, Korakai. “Their names cannot be disclosed yet but the entire gang will be arrested soon,” said the official. An FIR has been registered and interrogation has commenced.
