KARACHI: Two big upsets were witnessed on day one of the Langnese Ranking Snooker Cup as Balochistan’s Bahadur Khan beat third seed Abdul Sattar 4-3, while Shah Khan thumped former national champion Mohammad Asif Toba 4-2 on Thursday at the Movenpick Hotel in Karachi.

Bahadur was involved in a see-saw battle, eventually emerging the victor with a scoreline of 72-27, 30-63, 69-01, 11-62, 00-101 (83), 58-50, 72-01, while Shah won his close encounter against Toba 53-44, 55-41, 63-73, 58-56, 52-56, 64-58.



NBP Snooker Championship: Top two cueists to go for IBSF world event

Islamabad-based Shahram Changezi scored the only century break on day one as he beat Ian Mark John 4-2 with scores of 77-41, 68-30, 62-0, 42-68, 59-65 and 117-11 (112). Later, Changezi bested Muhammad Nouman Iqbal 4-3 in his second match of the day. Top seed Mohammad Asif defeated Abdul Raheem 4-1 and Khurram Agha overcame Iqbal with the same scoreline.

Defending champion Mohammad Sajjad also won 4-1 against Amir Tariq, while Mohammad Bilal was made to work hard for his 4-3 triumph over Zulfiqar Qadir.
