NAB arrests former ambassador over BZU graft

ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested on Thursday former ambassador Khawaja Alqama after the investigating team found evidence against him.

Alqama misused his authority as the vice chancellor of Bahauddin Zakaria University (BZU) Multan, NAB officials said.

Officials added that the former ambassador was found involved in irregularities and violation of rules as he tried establishing a university’s sub-campus in Lahore.

Meanwhile, the accountability bureau also arrested BZU Lahore Campus Director Hamza Munir on charges of misuse of authority and cheating the public at large for establishing an ‘illegal’ sub-campus.

Details suggest the proprietors of the M/s West Continental Group, which ran BZU Lahore, cheated the students by collecting Rs925 million as admission fee and other dues.

Nadeem | 8 years ago | Reply I believe that horrendous irregularities are perpetrating on by our very educational authorities which are considered in society very honest and dedicated to education. If NAB have taken initiative to catch the dishonest person in education sector. It would be only worthwhile if they take them to their last abode
