On October 22, unknown motorcyclists shot dead two police officials who were on their routine patrol near Dawood Public School in Bahadurabad area.

Similarly, in June, a DSP was gunned down when assailants allegedly belonging to the Swati faction of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) had opened fire at his vehicle in Karachi’s Shah Latif Town.

Recently, rising incidents of firing at traffic constables had prompted the authorities to provide them with bulletproof jackets and sub-machine guns, offering some respite, but the incidents seem to have continued unabated.
