Road accidents: Five killed, four injured in Swat

MINGORA: At least five people were killed and four others were injured in separate road accidents in Swat on Saturday and Sunday.

According to Noman Khan, an official of Swat police, a car with five passengers was en route to Mingora from Karapa, Buner when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The car skidded into a ravine, killing two people. Noman identified the deceased as Abbas and Mahnoor. The other three were severely injured and rushed to Saidu Teaching Hospital (STH).

Meanwhile, a tourist was killed in Madyan tehsil. According to Noman, Muhammad Ali, a resident of Peshawar, parked his car on a steep road in Jari. Ali was taking photographs when his parked car slid and hit him, pushing him down into a ravine. Ali died on the spot.

In another incident, a man was run over by a motorbike. Noman said Anwarul Haq was crossing the road in Kabal Chowk area when a motorcyclist hit him and injuring him severely. Haq was rushed to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Noman added a motorcyclist was killed and his friend was severely injured when their vehicle collided with a car in Madyan. According to the police, Abdul Saboor, a school student, along with his class fellow Burhan Ali, residents of Landi Kas, were on their way to Mingora when their motorbike collided with a car driven by Aqalzada. Saboor died on the spot while Burhan was injured and rushed to STH.

Police registered all cases of road accidents and commenced investigation.
