Govt can stop Pakistan cricket team from playing World T20 in India: Shahryar

PCB chairman says if India turns down December series, govt might prevent Pakistan from playing 2016 World Twenty20

KARACHI: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shahryar Khan said on Saturday that if India turn down a proposed series in December then it would be possible that Islamabad would prevent Pakistan from featuring in next year’s World Twenty20.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has called on India to honour a Memorandum of Understanding under which the arch-rivals agreed to play six series from 2015-2023 - pending clearance from both governments — the first of which is this year in the UAE.

Asked if the Pakistan government would prevent their team from playing in the World Twenty20, which India hosts from March 11 to April 3 next year, Shahryar said: “This is possible that if India close all doors then we have to decide and make a policy."

“We will have to take advice from the Pakistan government and I think the government will say don’t go in the event.”

Shahryar said that if such a situation arose then Pakistan would be ready to forfeit their matches in the World Twenty20, organised under the International Cricket Council (ICC).

The PCB chairman's statement comes after Hindu right-wing party Shiv Sena activists stormed the Mumbai office of BCCI, ahead of his meeting with Indian authorities. Further, following the incident, the ICC withdrew Pakistani umpire Aleem Dar from the India-South Africa series.

However, india's open displomatic aggression is for the world to see and without using a single bullet or life of its soliders its able to make pakistan beg. Pakistan wanted to eat grass to give india 1000 cuts. There were not cuts but yes, i do see few scars (mumbai, parlimanet, dawood), but boy the amount of grass pakistan has to digest in return is something Pakistanis would have never expected. Few scras to India has cost pakistan devaluation of its currency, loss of diplomatic power, bereft of cricket, millions killed due to home grown terrorists, baluch sepratist, afgan enimity, bangladesh enimity, begging to usa, begging to India, a new master called China! Was the 1000 cut wish worth it? Am not saying India doenst have problem, but at least those problems are not because we desire to harm any of our neighours!

Although Shiv Sena has successfully disrupted some events but still its activities have not made headlines in International media. Trust me, no other country would join Pakistan in its boycott. Outside world also doesn't know Shiv Sena. They are smart goons who are not using guns and bombs. It would be much better to go to India, beat Indian team in front of Shiv Sena goons and come home as victors. Boycott is the policy of Imran Khan, don't let it become our national policy.

Pakistan had boycotted the 1980 Moscow Summer Olympics. I believe this was sort of a USA Sponsored Boycott to PROTEST AGAINST the Russian Invasion of Afghanistan. Also you must take the ICC Boycotting the South African Cricket Team due to South African Apartheid Policy i.e. a Political Action. Please do not Force the Pakistan Government to Stop the Pakistan Cricket Team from playing World T20 in India. You will cause Irreparable Harm to Pakistani Cricket. Cheers

It shows how much he possessive to get the series to earn money to get bread and butter for his country . Look at now what he is doing keeping in mind as a last attempt ,he is trying to keep gun on government shoulder and trying to shoot BCCI. But this will also not work. if tomorrow Shashak Monohar ask him to make clean and shoeshine he will also be ready to get the serious. TiffinBox | 9 years ago | Reply Here is the real thing:- Both PCB and the Pakistani government want the series to go ahead in december anyhow for the simple fact that it would generate millions of dollar for PCB which they need to host PCL. PCB and the government knows playing India (anyhow, beg, threat, plead, blackmail) is their only solution to fill their already empty coffers. There is no security threat in India and both the PCB and the Pakistani government knows about it. What Sharyar Khan and company needs to know that their vile statement of Pakistan pulling out of the T20 world cup 2016 will in no ways effect the BCCI or the Indian government. If you want to pull out of the 2016 WC then do so (my 2 cents, you won't pull out. it's all rhetoric).

It's about time Pak govt should take the stock of the entire situation and allay India's terrorism concerns seriously, if it wants to maintain sporting ties with India. And, instead of advising India, Pak should stop 'mixing' the trade with politics, then India will do the same & won't mix sports with politics.
