Pakistan renews pledge to help UN keep peace

According to ISPR, Pakistan has lost 144 soldiers, including 23 officers with almost an equal number of troops wounded

Pakistan, one of the most significant and consistent contributors to the UN peacekeeping programme around the world, has reaffirmed its commitment for promoting international peace.

The army, since its first troop contribution in 1960, has provided close to 160,000 troops for 41 missions in 23 countries in almost all the continents of the world.

According to the military’s media wing, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), Pakistan has offered the sacrifice of 144 soldiers, including 23 officers with almost an equal number of troops wounded.

As the world celebrates October 24 as United Nations (UN) Day, ISPR says its commitment with UN stems from the vision of the country’s founding father.

Pakistani peacekeepers, it said, had left no stone unturned in the noble cause of helping humanity, building peace and bringing stability across the regions, under the banner of United Nations.
