Islam | 9 years ago | Reply we get the permit from govt/local management for processions , its sad to complaint about Prophets Son Jaloos and fine with so called dhurnas . its not about Shia or sunni its about choosind side ie either Hussaini or Yazeedi ...

Rafidi | 9 years ago | Reply Oddly enough, there are jaloos in a lot of big cities in non-muslim countries, including one near Marble Arch in Central London on a Saturday but no one makes a fuss about it over there. Why is it that the complaints tend to come from the same bunch of muslims who hold bigoted views towards Shias. So much for the mythic Ummah.

ibs | 9 years ago | Reply Your mosque, temple or shrine is where you're supposed to be worshipping. Not blocking roads and causing an inconvenience to the world. Imagine what the non muslims will think when they see people (muslims" standing on the street half naked whipping themselves with chains and knives? Was this practiced by the forebears of the religion?

Wajid Shah | 9 years ago | Reply No other religion or sect gets to close the entire country for 2 days every year. It's absolutely ridiculous. Before bashing me for intolerance, hear my two cents; no one, repeat, no one should be inconvenienced; not for Friday prayers, political reasons or for any rituals, period. Constitution protects our rights as well, I think.

Umer Malik | 9 years ago | Reply My dear, this is a democratic country whose residents have the absolute freedom to exercise their religious activities. What we, as a Pakistani, need to do is to respect our fellow countrymen rather than always picking at them. My dear brother and sisters, atleast, for once, think about the the outcome of the religious chauvinism that we muslims have since Arab spring. I hope one day AllAH SWT will show us the day when we muslims -- raher than being shia, sunni, wahabi -- will sit together, pray together, and prostrate together.

bigsaf | 9 years ago | Reply Should also be a picture of those Shia participants injured and killed in the aftermath of a bombing, which is unfortunately not too uncommon in Muharram in Pakistan, like the recent attack.

T | 9 years ago | Reply It's not just a religious gathering, it's a protest against injustice. Protests are done on streets, not in compound . Moreover, you get to two offdays, stay home if you're not attending. My question to you all is no one ever complained about those dharna's on streets from various political parties, why ?

Troubled | 9 years ago | Reply @H: So you obviously are not from pakistans larger cities. The point being made here is that all religious gatherings are protected under the constitution. People questioning it is just a sign of the moral decay and intolerance that has been introduced into our society. This never existed before, it is foreign. Pakistan used to be tolerant. PS. There is no distinction. Your defence implies that you already have a problem with different sects.

doom | 9 years ago | Reply @H: Happens all over in Islamabad, at least. The mosque near our house does it. You have to circle all the way around the whole market on Friday because they have one road tented off.

Paki | 9 years ago | Reply For any religious gathering, be its jumma prayers or else, its better to do in a safe closed compound. This is specifically important in the current sensitive law and order situation.

H | 9 years ago | Reply @Troubled: Don't see anyone blocking the road for Friday prayers. You may see traffic jams due to a large influx of people attending prayers INSIDE the mosque but no where do you see people on the streets creating mayhem. It is important for people to know the distinction.
