Loyalties are in question in Charsadda district, where Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Shabqadar councillors have threatened to withdraw support from district nazim Fahad Khan over decisions made by him and PTI K-P Organiser Fazal Muhammad Khan.
The councillors from Shabqadar tehsil are irked by leaders in the district for organising a party function without members of the tehsil councils but inviting those who contested against PTI members.
“Organiser Fazal and the district nazim visited Shabqadar and arranged a function without informing the tehsil and district councillors,” said tehsil naib nazim Ghafarullah while addressing participants at a meeting of PTI’s elected district and tehsil members on Thursday.
“The district nazim and provincial organiser should pay attention to Charsadda as a whole instead of interfering in matters of Shabqadar.” Ghafarullah pointed at the party’s success in the tehsil: “A PTI Shabqadar member won an MPA seat from the tehsil in 2013; now [in LG polls] we won the majority seats in tehsil and district council in Charsadda.”
He added, “The district and provincial leadership should not neglect the party in tehsils.”
Decisions made by the provincial organiser were also questioned by Charsadda district councillors. PTI Charsadda deputy organiser and parliamentary leader in the district assembly, Shahidullah said Fazal decided to sack former PTI K-P president Akbar Khan Matta over personal issues. “We will not accept such decisions.”
He added during the district nazim elections, “We all supported Fazal but now he and Fahad are inviting those who went against the party by contesting as independents.” Shahidullah added if they withdrew their support from the Charsadda district nazim, the PTI and Qaumi Watan Party coalition in the district government would fall apart.
