Muharram processions: ITP finalises traffic plan

The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has finalised a traffic plan for religious processions on 8th and 9th Muharram to facilitate motorists.


SSP Traffic Matloob Ahmed chaired a meeting on Tuesday to finalise the plan.

The main religious procession of 8th Muharram would start from Jamia Murtaza G-9/4 and end up at Jamia Imam Sadiq G-9/2. During the procession in Sector G-9, Street 54, I&T Centre, Zulifqar Chowk, Khokhar Turn, Project Mor, Kashmir Highway G-9 turn, G-10 Double Road, G-10/3-4 Chowk, Street 16 and 11 in G-9/2 and Khuram Road would be closed for traffic with alternate routes.

Likewise, the main procession of 9th Muharram would start from G/6-2 and end at the same place after passing through the defined route. During the procession, Kulsoom Plaza, Fazle Haq Road, Post Office Chowk, 7th Avenue loop, 7th Avenue G-7/4, Iqbal Hall Chowk, Lal Masjid Chowk, GPO Chowk, and street 14 in G-6/2 would be closed for traffic.
