PM Nawaz arrives in Washington on official visit

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will hold dialogue on a number of bilateral issues with US president, other officials

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif arrived on Tuesday in Washington on a four-day official visit to the United States.

The prime minister is set to hold dialogue on a number of issues of bilateral interests with US President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden and other US cabinet members.

During the meetings, the two countries are expected to talk on the current state of Pak-US relations and search for areas for further cooperation meant to expand and enrich the partnership of the two countries.

PM Nawaz is also expected meeting members of the US Senate, House of Representatives and senior US Government’s officials.

He will also attend a corporate event to be organised by US-Pakistan Business Council in Washington DC and will also speak at the United States Institute of peace.

Pakistan cautions US against tipping South Asia balance

Maryam Nawaz, daughter of the prime minister, has also accompanied the premiere for the US visit on invitation from the US first lady Michelle Obama.

Maryam will meet Michelle on Thursday to discuss women’s empowerment and educational reforms in Pakistan.
