Army chief General Raheel Sharif said on Tuesday the indomitable courage of army and Frontier Corps (FC) soldiers is the bedrock of the ongoing Operation Zarb-e-Azb.

"Indomitable courage of Army and FC soldiers has been the bedrock of  Zarb-e-Azb," the army chief said, during his visit to FC headquarters in Balaisar, Peshawar.

“The COAS has reviewed new manpower and equipment inductions to build FC’s capacity, directed to ensure merit in selection and training to remain effective institution,” DG ISPR Lt-Gen Asim Saleem Bajwa tweeted quoting the army chief.





Further, General Raheel paid rich tributes to the achievement of the armed forces.

The army chief also lauded the role of security agencies and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Police which, he said, courageously braved onslaught of terror and rendered sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.





General Raheel also stressed the need to work for close coordination, better border management on both sides of Pak-Afghan border as pre-requisite for long term peace in the region.

Islamabad is calling for the early resumption of stalled reconciliation process in order to find a political solution to the lingering conflict in Afghanistan.

Operation Zarb-e-Azb was launched on June 15 last year following a brazen attack on Karachi airport – that signalled the collapse of the government’s peace talks with the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.

Meanwhile, the army chief visited the Balahisar Fort in Peshawar and met the FC personnel there.

Pakistan | 8 years ago | Reply @GKA: Tanks are almost useless in that terrain so is artillary.Pakistan does not have enough jets and helicopters to provide all the troops in the operation area with air support..so yes the troops are brave because they are attacking held positions with basically just small arms.
