Locals joined a protest being led by the victim's parents who said, "Is it a crime to go to the toilet several times a day? This teacher is too cruel to keep her job if she can inflict such an inhuman punishment on a small girl."

Eventually, following the complaint of the parents, the police filed child cruelty cases against the teacher and the principal.
