Meeting demand: ‘Zero load-shedding by 2017’
He said the government was providing uninterrupted power supply to the industrial sector

Concrete steps are being taken to achieve the target of ‘zero load-shedding’ by 2017, as per the directives of the prime minister, said Water and Power Secretary Mohammad Younus Dagha. “The government is working to enhance the power generation capacity to 12,000MW to meet demand.” He further said the procurement of 3,600MW was done recently and the ministry had completed three mega power projects in time and hence saved Rs120 billion. He said the government was providing uninterrupted power supply to the industrial sector while in urban residential areas there was only six-hour load-shedding. “An amount of $1 billion is being invested to overcome line losses and resolving technical issues to avoid the heavy losses of electricity,” the secretary added.
