Shameful: Two rape cases involving children reported

Hajipur’s Inspector Incharge Habibullah Khan said the suspect would be apprehended soon

District police received complaints about two rape incidents involving children on Monday.  One of the suspects has been arrested but the other managed to flee.


Police said they had received a complaint about a qari sahib (teacher), resident of Rahim Yar Khan, at Madrassa Rasheedia in, Block A, Model Town, Bahawalpur, who had brought an 11-year-old boy from Rahim Yar Khan to stay and study at the Madrassa.


On Sunday, the boy’s parents came to visit him at the Madrassa. He told them that the teacher had raped him over the course of several months. The boy’s parents filed a complaint with the Cantt police station. Police said they had taken the teacher into custody.


“We registered a case against the qari on the victim’s father’s complaint…during interrogation, he confessed to having raped the child.”


Separately, a nine-year-old boy from Katchi Abadi, Hajipur, was raped allegedly by a neighbour.


The DPO ordered Hajipur police to register a case and arrest the suspect. Police said that when a team visited the suspect’s house, however his family members attacked the policemen.


A police spokesperson said that the suspect’s family had later complained to the DPO that the policemen, who were part of the raid, had used undue force against them.


Hajipur’s Inspector Incharge Habibullah Khan said the suspect would be apprehended soon.
