PPFL champions geared up for Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup
KARACHI:
Reigning Pakistan Premier Football League champions K-Electric (KE) will take on Bangladesh’s most successful club, Dhaka Abahani FC, in their opening match of the Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup in Chittagong on Tuesday.
KE are slotted in Group B of the Asian Football Confederation graded tier-two international event.
Essa Khan will be leading the team in Chittagong, hoping to emulate KE’s performance at the AFC Cup qualifiers where they topped their group against Mongolian and Bhutanese champions.
KE set to leave for Bangladesh on Oct 17
Dhaka Abahani FC have four Bangladesh league titles to their name.
“We want to carry our momentum,” Essa told The Express Tribune. “We definitely want to maintain our winning form and our performance at the AFC Cup qualifiers in all events.”
Pakistan will play against India’s Kolkata East Bengal FC in their second match at the tournament, which has a total of eight teams vying for the title.
