Are you tired of your constantly-nagging saas, or your forever-depressed friend, or maybe even your raging boss?

Some people tend to become toxic and and can negatively influence the way you think, feel, and behave. Here are signs which prove that toxic people are getting the better of you:

1. You lose your cool

It could be because your boss never has anything nice to say about your work, but losing your temper means that your emotions are not in control when the toxic person is around. If you don't keep your emotions in check, the stress and frustration might just turn into rage.

2. They're always on your mind

People can annoy you to the verge of taking over your thoughts -- and they spill in the form of a gossip fest when the toxic person is not around. Whether it's your annoying relative's tannas or your friend's rude remark about you that you cannot get over, but talking about people when they're not around gives them more power over your life.

3. Your insecurities increase

Toxic people usually hurl rude remarks with the intent of putting the other person down. If you let them get the better of you, your self esteem will dwindle and cause you to question yourself. Remember: Your self worth is not determined by other people.

4. You start playing the blame game

Your life might be heading towards a road block, or your relations with your in-laws might be straining, who do you blame? (Us nay yakeenan nazar lagai ho gi). That one person who is probably responsible for everything going wrong in your life. Accept responsibility for your wrong doings and the bad decisions you make.

5. You would rather get stuck at Shahrah-e-Faisal than spend time with them

Nobody likes spending time with toxic people, if you start dreading meeting certain people, and they tend to ruin events or gatherings for you with their presence, it's time to get rid of them.

6. You play tit-for-tat

You stoop down to their level and start playing dirty whether it challenges your values or morals. It's tit-for-tat, right? While the low blows may seem to be a winning strategy, they will only create more chaos for you in the future.

7. You don't implement 'good fences make good neighbours'

It does get difficult to set boundaries when it comes to toxic people, their manipulative and shrewd ploys tend to spill over your life. A rude remark from a friend at a party could take you off-guard and leave you stunned, but not setting boundaries leads to more pain and harm on your end.

8. You turn to unhealthy coping mechanisms

Whether it's a suta or 10 Nutella parathas from Chai Wala, your unhealthy cravings get the better of you to help cope with the negativity these toxic people leave behind. These quick fixes may provide temporary relief, but they will have a lasting effect later on.

9. You damage your relationships

Yes, they leave you in a frenzy of rage. Yes, just the thought of them makes you clench your fist and grit your teeth, but taking out all that anger on your children or spouse won't make matters any better. It will strain your relationships and cause them to suffer.
