It may be common knowledge that Jawaharlal Nehru was the first prime minister of India, but Google does not think so.

A simple search for ‘India’s first prime minister’ showed the name of Jawaharlal Nehru but showed a picture of India's current premier, Narendra Modi, instead.

A similar search on Google Images also showed Modi’s photo in three of the 10 spots in the first two rows of the images. He was also in the list options under the 'president' tag in the same search.

However, the error has since been fixed.

This is not the first time the world's most-used search engine showed Modi’s photo under a wrong search query. Google had to issue an apology after the premier’s photo appeared in Google Images search for ‘Top 10 criminals in India.’ It was suggested that the error had occurred due to incorrect image metadata by a British daily.

Further, Google had also listed the Indian prime minister among the ‘world’s most stupid prime ministers.’ Modi’s images appear multiple times and more times than any other premier’s on searching for ‘world’s most stupid prime ministers’. Modi was joined by British Prime Minister David Cameron, Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott and even former leaders such as the first prime minister of Singapore, Lee Kuan Yew.
