JIT chief Malik Abu Bakr Khuda Baksh presented the report at the court of Chief Justice Manzoor Ahmed Malik. He said 239 children were sexually abused and 31 cases had been registered. Baksh said 19 suspects were responsible for this. He said their challan had been submitted at an anti-terrorism court. Baksh said a report on the exoneration of six suspects had also been submitted at the court. He said a challan of another six suspects was also sent to conventional courts as their role did not fall under the provisions of the Anti-Terrorism Act.
The court adjourned the hearing till November 29 to allow the counsel for the petitioner to formulate arguments on the report. The court was holding the hearing on a petition by Sana Murad among others. Her counsel Aftab Bajwa had told the court that the reports had spread terror in the society and the police was not including references to ATAs in FIRs of the incident. He had also requested the court to fix the suspects’ trial before a military court. Bajwa had also requested the formulation of a JIT to probe the matter.
