MANSEHRA: The poultry shop owners resumed business activities on Thursday after four days of a strike against wholesale traders in Mansehra. The decision was announced after a meeting with the district administration on Wednesday, said Siddique Mohammad, an official from Hazara Poultry Shops Association. He said all poultry shop owners had been on a shutter-down strike for the last four days against the spike in costs for chicken. “The price of chicken per kilogramme has dropped to Rs75 in the national market,” he said. “We can only earn Rs10 in profits from customers whereas we are buying chicken from wholesalers at much higher prices.” After the meeting with the district administration, it was decided the poultry shop owners would charge Rs15 more as compared to the cost of chicken being sold in Rawalpindi for next three months.
