A vision in white
Actor Elizabeth Debicki cut a serene figure at the Cannes Film Festival this year. She set the red carpet on fire when she turned up in a white fitted maxi dress with a keyhole cut-out on the front and large puffed-up sleeves, which made her stand out. Keeping her look simple with silver earrings and hair tied-back, Debicki pulled off this dashing look.

Suggestion: We feel the puffed sleeves would complement a sari just as elegantly. Ask your tailor to stitch a fitted full-sleeves blouse and glamourise it with puff sleeves. To create an evident puff, ask your tailor to add more length to the curved part of the sleeves. Measure the length of your armhole and then add about half of that length to your pattern piece. The more you want it to be puffed up, the more the length it would require.
Going bold with grace
Krew Boylan opted for a striking black ensemble at The Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards in Sydney. Sporting semi-transparent mesh fabric, the actor adorned her outfit with balloon-style puff sleeves and a loose-fitting bodice with black embroidery. Cinching at the waist, her dress was stitched in a straight cut, falling down just below her knee. A pair of black strappy heels completed her look.

Suggestion: Picking a pastel colour of your choice and stitching a three-quarter puff sleeves top would come across as effortlessly trendy. Pair it with high-waisted black trousers and pointed heels to make your outfit more noticeable. You might want to complete your look with a cross-body bag or a formal clutch depending on the occasion.
Puffing the butterfly field
Hot and trendy, Sonam Kapoor never gets it wrong. The starlet looked sizzling in an Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla ensemble at the Chopard party. Wearing a two-piece outfit, she coupled her black and gold floral embellished top with a draped skirt. Had Sonam not opted for puff sleeves, her outfit would be as simple as any other. The layered feather sleeves made the actor noticeable from a distance, giving wings to her fierce and smoky look. 10/10 to the actor for knowing how to make her outfit stand out by slipping on staple black heels.

Suggestion: If you don’t prefer to go western but want to keep up with the puff sleeves trend, you can play around with your eastern look as well. Get a puffed full-sleeves crop top stitched and wear a sleeveless embellished coat over it to embrace your formal wear. Opting for a puff-sleeved cape instead would look just as great. Pair your upper with cigarette pants and heels.
