Going wired: A website to document history

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Culture on Thursday launched its official website with an illustrated tour of the rich history and traditions of the ancient seat of great civilizations on Thursday.

History, folk traditions, crafts, music, literature, folklore and archaeological sites are featured in the website, providing the visitor a broad vista of the variety of Pakistani culture.

Culture ministry is responsible for showcasing Pakistani culture at home and abroad through its various organisations like the Department of Archaeology and Museums, Central Board of Film Censors, the National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage (popularly known as Lok Virsa) and Pakistan National Council of the Arts. Federal Minister for Culture Pir Aftab Shah Jillani said the ministry promotes the documentation, preservation, conservation and development of Pakistan’s diverse cultural heritage.
