Benazir’s Murder: Court asks FO to contact Siegel
A summons was then issued for the third time for SP Tahir Ayub to record his statement.
RAWALPINDI:
The anti-terrorism court (ATC) hearing the Benazir Bhutto murder case has directed the Foreign Office (FO) to fix a date for the cross-examination of US author Mark Siegel. Judge Rai Ayub Marth was informed by an FO representative that Siegel, who recently recorded his testimony but is yet to be cross-examined by the defence, has assured of his availability in the first week of November. The court asked the FO to submit a report about its correspondence with Siegel and state a date so his cross-examination can be arranged via video-link. The judge postponed the hearing after a former police official did not appear in court to record his statement. A summons was then issued for the third time for SP Tahir Ayub to record his statement. After issuing notice to another witness, inspector Tahir Ilyas, the hearing was adjourned till October 14.
