‘Chiragh Bali’ to go live on October 29

Sajid Hasan excited about audience reaction to his brainchild

KARACHI: Bankrolled by actor Sajid Hasan, Sahir Productions is set to run its upcoming play Chiragh Bali from October 29.According to a press release, the play will be performed at the Southend Club Auditorium, DHA, Karachi.

Addressing a press conference at the club, Hasan said the Chiragh Bali team is a mix of both experienced and young professionals and that he is looking forward to the reaction of audiences on the play that has been penned by him. Co-produced by Durdana Shahab, the play’s synopsis was revealed by director Iqbal Lateef.

Flanked by cast members Ayub Khosa, Zara Tareen, Adil Murad, Kausar Siddiqui, Alie Shaikh, Mehboob Sultan and Zainab Haider Ali, Lateef said the play is an insight into the life and times of a very exited Noor Jahan who is celebrating her 10th wedding anniversary and has two very big surprises waiting for her – a band of dacoits and the infidelity of her husband.

The project is being headed by Sikandar Mengal and Sohail Abbasi has pieced together its set and will also oversee lighting and sound.      Sahir Productions’ Strategy and Planning Director Zaheer Khan said the company has numerous projects in the pipeline, including a drama serial written by Haseena Moin and another written by Jawwad Daud. “We are also working on a sitcom which has been written by Hasan,” he was quoted as saying.

More recently, Hasan has been revelling in his newfound zeal for theatre. His last theatrical outing was the love story, Aapki Soniya, starring Hasan alongside Mehwish Hayat at the same venue.

The play was written by renowned playwright Javed Siddiqi who has not only written scripts for blockbuster films such as  Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge but also has artistic films like Fiza and Zubeidaa to his credit. It was directed by Bollywood actor-turned-face of Pakistani television, Alyy Khan.
