Well done: PM lauds speedy completion of projects

Says public welfare is a top priority of the government

LAHORE:

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Saturday lauded the performance of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and his team over the speedy and transparent completion of development projects across the province. He was addressing a meeting at Governor’s House.

The prime minister said development projects were being executed in the Punjab. He said thousands of people would benefit from these projects.

He said public welfare was a top priority of the Punjab government.

He said the Punjab government had completed the Lahore and Rawalpindi-Islamabad metro bus projects in a short span of time and had provided a modern and affordable travelling facility to hundreds of thousands of people.

The prime minister expressed satisfaction over the work on the metro bus in Multan.

“The Orange Line Metro Train in Lahore which will provide a new facility to the people,” he added.

Sharif said the chief minister had introduced revolutionary reforms in transport, education and health sectors. The prime minister said the education system had been transformed through reforms in the last seven years.

He said opportunities for higher education had been provided to talented students from low-income households. The prime minister said billions of rupees had been allocated for scholarships under the Punjab Education Endowment Fund.

He said distribution of laptops among top-scoring students and study tours abroad had encouraged students.

The prime minister congratulated Shahbaz for offering scholarships to 100,000 students through the Punjab Educational Endowment Fund.

“This is the biggest scholarship programme in south Asia,” Sharif said.

“The government has transformed Lahore and other cities are following suit,” he said. “The rural roads programme will address infrastructure woes of the people. “Soon health facilities will become accessible for the people due to better transport and travelling facilities to bigger cities.”
