Peshawar

An alleged militant was killed during an exchange of fire with security forces in Shahi Bala on the outskirts of the city on Saturday. Muhammad Ghani alias Muhammadi was a resident of Tora Waray, Hangu. He belonged to the Orakzai tribe.  “Muhammadi was at his relative’s house in Shahi Bala village. He had moved there Friday night,” a local police official told The Express Tribune. The house was raided after forces received a tip-off. Muhammadi and security forces exchanged fire, killing the victim.

The alleged militant was wanted in several cases under the Anti-Terrorism Act, said the official. “It was an intelligence-based operation and weapons were also seized,” he added.

Kohat

Meanwhile, the counter-terrorism department (CTD) Kohat arrested a man who was previously unidentified and was wanted in a targeted killing case, according to a handout issued Saturday.

Two months ago, Bakhtiar Ali was killed and Muhammad Anwar was injured when unidentified armed men opened fire on them in Gunjano Kalay, Hangu. One of the attackers was also killed while the others managed to escape. The assailants left behind a motorcycle too. The CTD investigated the case and arrested one of the terrorists involved in the attack. He has been identified as Israfil and is an active member of a banned outfit. Israfil belongs to Hangu.
