The Pesco director general of public relations, Shaukat Afzal, announced 227 meters had been found tampered with for the purpose of electricity theft across K-P. According to a press release issued on Friday, meters had been tested for routine inspection.
At least 11% meters were found tampered with in Peshawar and Khyber circles respectively.
Swat and Mardan circles had the lowest level percentage of tampering – 0.1% and 0.02% respectively.
Afzal commended Pesco laboratories for their outstanding performance in checking domestic, commercial and industrial electricity meters. He added, “The meters found tampered for electricity theft are fined according to the consumer’s actual load as well as the percentage of tampering.”
