KARACHI:
Pakistan cueist Abdul Rahim progressed into the quarter-finals of the IBSF U18 World Championship on Friday after an impressive 4-0 win over Iran’s Arman Atashsokhan in St Petersburg, Russia.

Rahim was troubled in the first frame, which he won with a difference of just seven points, but the second one proved to be easier.

The third frame was a similar story to the first as Rahim had to fight hard, eventually winning it by 11 points.

The Pakistani then outplayed Atashsokhan in the fourth frame to set up a tie against Wales’ Tyler Rees in the last-eight.

Rahim had earlier beaten French Niel Vincent 3-1 in their last-32 match as he came back from a frame down.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Saqib crashed out of the championship after losing his last-32 clash 3-0 to Israel’s Amir Nardeia, who triumphed by scores of 61-41, 83-24 and 81-25.
