Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has asked the relevant authorities to constitute an independent management board for Kaghan Development Authority that will function on similar lines as Galiyat Development Authority.
This was stated in a handout issued on Thursday. Khattak was speaking at a meeting held at the CM’s Secretariat to assess progress on Water and Sanitation Services Companies (WSSC). According to the document, the decision has been taken in view of “unplanned construction of houses and commercial structures and unhygienic conditions at tourist spots such as Kaghan and Naran”.
The chief minister has also pressed for the establishment of separate development authorities for Malakand, Dir and Chitral.
“Khattak also ordered the authorities to finalise a list of the board of directors for the divisional level of WSSC within three days,” read the statement. “The CM said a series of measures should be taken to make WSSC fully functional and launch its operations in all divisional headquarters of the province.”
According to the handout, the chief minister directed the divisional commissioners to select only those officials in the board who are not politically motivated. “The CM asked them to include district and tehsil nazims in the forum,” he said.
Khattak also directed the commissioners to take action against encroachments in urban areas. “A completion certificate must be submitted once a district has been cleared of illegal encroachments,” stated the handout.
