Islamabad Police have been directed to put in place elaborate security arrangements for Muharram starting from the end of next week. Operations SSP Sajid Kiani has directed the police to ensure installation of CCTV cameras at entry points of religious gatherings, said a press release. Special directives have been issued to all SPs, SDPOs and SHOs for effective arrangements by ensuring walk-through gates at all entry and exit points of majalis and processions. The police have also been directed to take steps to curb wall-chalking against any sect. Kiani also ordered for combing of slums, bus stations and strict vigilance of suspected elements, vehicles and motorbikes. He said special meetings should be arranged with members of peace committees to specify routes of the processions. He said processions should pass through fixed routes and adhere to the timings.
