ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has held consultative meeting with close aides in Lahore over the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) campaign for by-elections in NA-122 and PP-147.

According to sources, senior party leadership met Nawaz at his Jati Umra residence in Raiwind during the three days he was there. It was decided that a rally will be taken out on October 7 and October 8 in NA-122. Arrangements for the party’s public gathering at Doongi Ground, Samnabad, on October 9 were also reviewed. MNA Hamza Shahbaz Sharif is expected to address that gathering.

With two PML-N ministers being issued show cause notices for violating the Election Commission’s code of conduct by participating in election campaigns, senior party leaders also discussed what impact this could have on the campaign in NA-122.

While the party believes that the courts have set aside restrictions imposed by the ECP, they decided to get more input from their legal experts.

Later, after Nawaz returned to Islamabad on Monday, he met with Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan at the PM House. They discussed internal security situation in the country and the status of implementing the security policy.
