Duping the public: Court jails human smuggler

The accused received a prison sentence of 13 and a half years and a fine of Rs750,000

RAWALPINDI: A man accused in a human smuggling case was sentenced to prison for over 13 years and fined over Rs0.7 million on Monday. After establishment of guilt, Special Judge (Central) Mohammad Naeem Arshad announced the verdict against Masjid Ali Abbasi. The accused received a prison sentence of 13 and a half years and a fine of Rs750,000. Failure to pay the fine would result in the extension of the jail term of a year. Abbasi swindled four people and received Rs200,000 from them on the context of sending them to the United Kingdom. Federal Investigation Agency officials had recovered fake passports among related items from Abbasi.
