PESHAWAR:

Press Secretary to Governor of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Shamsur Rahman died early Sunday morning. He was 55 years old.

Rahman was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard at Alladand Dheri village near Batkhela, Malakand Sunday afternoon. People from all walks of life, including high-ranking officials and officials from K-P information directorate, journalists, stalwarts and political party workers, attended his funeral.

An official from the information department said Rahman fell unconscious at his residence in Peshawar and was rushed to Lady Reading Hospital early Sunday morning. However, he died before he could be given first aid. Rahman’s body was then taken to his native village.

Though doctors have not determined the cause of his death, his family members say he suffered from a cardiac arrest.

In 1989, he joined the provincial Information and Public Relations department as its Information Officer. He was posted as Press Secretary to Governor of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa about a year ago.
