Remuneration: Bonuses announced for sanitation staff

PESHAWAR:
Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar (WSSP) has announced a one-week salary bonus for sanitation staff in recognition of their efforts to maintain cleanliness during Eidul Azha. 

In a statement issued on Sunday, WSSP CEO Muhammad Naeem Khan said he, along with the board of directors, approved the bonuses for the employees. The decision has been taken on the recommendation of the operations wing.



“They will also be provide overtime allowances as per a series of prescribed rules,” the statement quoted Naeem as saying. “Our employees are our assets. WSSP will continue to recognise their efforts toward establishing a cleaner and healthier Peshawar.”


Spick and span

A four-day cleanliness campaign was organised in the city during Eid-ul-Azha. Faqirabad, Zaryab Colony, University Road, Tehkal Bala, Danishabad, Phandu Road, Sethi Town and Charsadda Road are among the localities where the drive was conducted.

Over 3,000 workers participated during the campaign which disposed carcasses of sacrificial animals. During the campaign, 6,449 tonnes of animal remains were collected and properly disposed of at a dumping site. The site was subsequently fumigated.

A series of fumigation drives are still in progress in various parts of the city.
