Jharoka Art Gallery recently gave Major Adnan Shehzad a chance to put his paintings on exhibition for the first time.
In his statement, the artist said that due to his army background it might be surprising for some people to see him paint and practice art.
“Despite being passionate about art, I never got a chance to study it. In fact, I studied computer science and civil engineering but since art is my passion, and not just a hobby, I make it a point to practice it every now and then,” he added.
Shehzad further said that the exhibition featured a lot of outdoors. “I am inspired heavily by nature, and I personally enjoy spending my free time outdoors too,” he said.
“Painting without passion and deep emotion is just like a body without a soul,” he said.
The artist mentioned that his work in the exhibition was experimental and therefore very diverse but his upcoming work would be more focused.
The show features 20 paintings. The artwork truly reflects the various shades of nature that have been seized on canvas.
The entire collection is either oil on canvas or oil on paper with immense detail and bright colours that reflect the beauty of nature.
Some of the paintings that used dull and subtle colours had great depth in them along with fineness.
Naheed Raza, director and curator of the Jharoka Art Gallery, told The Express Tribune that when the gentleman came to the gallery, she could see his passion for art and his talent.
“He may be a new name but his work is mature and he has tried different mediums, techniques, topics so in a way he is trying to find his way and select his style through experimental work. In my view this new talent has a spark to become an artist of high caliber,” she said.
The exhibition that began last Tuesday will continue till October 7.
