Police claimed on Saturday to have arrested a man suspected of molesting a neighbour.
A Balochni police spokesman said Shafqat Ali, a resident of Chak 55-RB, had told them that his nine-year-old niece had been abducted by a neighbour while she was playing in the fields near their house.
“He took my niece to a house and molested her,” he said. He said the man then left her there and fled. He said she was found badly bruised and beaten. She was taken to a hospital by her father.
The spokesman said an FIR had been registered against the suspect under Section 376 (punishment for rape) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
He said team had been formed to find and arrest the suspect. He said man was picked up early on Saturday morning.
The spokesman said the victim’s medical examination report had been requested. He said further action would be taken against the suspect once the report was received.
