QUETTA: At least four personnel of Balochistan Levies Force were wounded on Thursday, when armed men disguised as Iranian border guards opened fire on their vehicle in the Mashkhel area of Washuk district. Mashkhel’s assistant commissioner, Naseer Jatak, said a Levies vehicle was on a routine patrol near the Pak-Iran border in Bacharai area, about 78 kilometres off Mashkhel town, when armed men wearing the uniforms of Iranian border guards opened fire on them. “At least four personnel of the Levies Force suffered bullet wounds,” Jatak said. For his part, DG Levies Tariq Zahri is convinced that it is smugglers who opened fire on the Balochistan Levies patrol and not the Iranian guards. “Our enemies, in the current fluid global situation, want to sour our relations with brotherly neighbouring Muslim countries,” the DG Levies said.
