LAHORE: Imran Khan is trying to woo new supporters with promises of accountability, claiming the major difference between his party and the ruling one was the latter does not allow workers to hold their leaders accountable.

Winding up his two-day campaign in the NA-122 constituency, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman questioned the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz supporters whether their leaders were accountable before them, something he claimed was being practised within his party.

Khan’s visit to the constituency on the second day of his campaigning was marked by the joining of over 25 PML-N leaders and supporters, including Bilal Gujjar and Chauhdry Aadil.

The joining ceremony was held at Islamia Park, where the PTI chief along with other party leaders, including Punjab Organiser Chaudhry Sarwar, NA-122 candidate Abdul Aleem Khan and MPA Mian Aslam Iqbal who is believed to have played a key role in the latest alliance building, were also present.

The newly inducted leaders extended their support to NA-122 candidate Abdul Aleem Khan as well as PP-147 candidate Shoaib Siddiqui in the upcoming by-poll.

Addressing the media right before starting the rally in PP-147, Khan said the difference between PTI and PML-N was holding the leaders accountable.

“Everyone can hold Imran Khan accountable,” he claimed, adding that any party worker could ask him about his financial assets and how he managed to earn them.

He said despite having made a living abroad for over 18 years, all his assets were declared and in Pakistan.

“Can you hold Nawaz Sharif accountable?” he said apparently questioning PML-N supporters, claiming that no one had been given the right to quiz the PML-N leadership about their assets abroad.

Welcoming the new members in his party, Khan dismissed the notion that there were any differences within the party between the new and old members.
