Hand grenade lobbed at PTI leader’s house

The militants tied the grenade with a wire, lit a match to it and lobbed the grenade

A woman was critically injured when unidentified militants lobbed a hand grenade at the house of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader in Mangalwar, Swat on Thursday.


A security official told The Express Tribune the incident occurred at around 2am. “Dildar Khan, a PTI leader and general councillor, informed us that he and his family woke up to a loud explosion from his sister’s room,” he added.

“They rushed to the room and found her in an injured condition. Their house had been hit by shrapnel.”

According to the official, the injured was rushed to the hospital.

A search operation was launched in the area. “The militants tied the grenade with a wire,” he said.

“They lit a match to the wire and lobbed the grenade.” A case has been registered and around
30 suspects were rounded up. “Further investigation is still under way,” said the official.
