KARACHI: The Sindh Rangers are on a roll — literally. They will now feature in a dedicated radio show, titled 'Rangers Hour' on FM 101.

This is an exclusive programme by the paramilitary force for the citizens of Karachi. It aims to give the citizens an opportunity to interact with the law enforcers, Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 9:30am and 5pm to 6pm. The first show goes on air today (Friday).

On the first day, an exclusive interview with Rangers DG Major General Bilal Akbar will be aired from 5pm to 6pm. Citizens can also call in to give their views regarding the Rangers' action in the city or they can reach the hosts at rangershour@gmail.com.

According to Rangers officials, the show aims to encourage interaction between the personnel and the citizens of the metropolis, especially the youth. "In addition to paying tribute to the martyrs, the FM radio service will be used to disseminate information related to the city's law and order situation," said the Rangers official. "The decision to launch the service in Karachi was taken in view of the overall situation and the show will be specifically designed to communicate timely reports."

This is the second such step taken by the Rangers in Karachi. Earlier, the officials had launched its helpline, 1101, for citizens to pass on any information regarding criminals, murderers, extortionists, kidnappers, terrorists or illegal arms. The citizens may also inform the Rangers via email.

The paramilitary force is currently conducting an operation against terrorists and criminals in Karachi and its personnel have killed and arrested a large number of terrorists and criminals.
