BAHAWALPUR: An anti-corruption team arrested an ASI on Wednesday for receiving a bribe. Asghar, a resident of Baqirpur, said he was attacked by Abdul Sattar, Abdul Jabbar, Ilyas, Zeeshan Ali and some other men at his house. He said his brother Ramazan had visited Saddar police station to file a complaint. ASI Altaf Hussain had demanded Rs10,000 to register a case and later demanded another Rs10,000 to arrest the suspects. Ramazan then filed a complaint against Hussain. Anti-corruption officials directed Ramazan to give Hussain marked currency notes as bribe. On Wednesday, Circle Officer Azhar Hussain and Judge Wajid Haider raided Hussain’s office and found the currency notes there. They arrested Hussain.
