Trade Ties: Pakistan, Belarus sign agreement

The two countries agreed to the establishment of special economic zones in both countries

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Belarus signed the “Road Map of Bilateral Cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in the Short and Medium Term”. Federal Minister for Commerce Khurram Dastgir Khan and Belarus Minister for Industry Vitaly M Vovk signed the draft of roadmap in Islamabad. The two countries agreed to the establishment of special economic zones in both countries for encouraging investments in the textile industry, leather industry, woodworking and furniture industry, manufacture of sports goods and surgical instruments. Furthermore, it was decided to facilitate import and assembly of mining equipment in Pakistan. Additionally, it was agreed to conduct a study for joint infrastructure projects in Pakistan. Vovk said that Belarusian Prime Minister will visit Pakistan in November and several MoUs will be signed between the two countries.
