Over-speeding: One tourist dies, two go missing

MINGORA: One tourist was killed, another was injured while two went missing after their vehicle plunged into Swat River in Bahrain, Swat on Saturday.

Four men from Nowshera were en route to Mingora from Kalam when their car took a nose dive into the river in Kaidam area, a Bahrain police officer told The Express Tribune. “The accident happened when the driver lost control of the vehicle while he was speeding.”

The tourists were identified as Waseem Babar, Zeeshan, Mudassir and Mujeeb. “Soon after the accident, locals rushed to the site to help the injured and found only one of the victims,” said the policeman. He added they took him to Saidu Teaching Hospital while the other three were missing.

The body of one of the missing persons, Mujeeb, was found Sunday morning while the other two were missing till this report was filed. “Cases have been registered by family members of the tourists from Risalpur and Nowshera.”

In another incident, a traffic constable was killed in Charbagh, Swat. “Constable Abid Khan was on his way home when a speeding car hit him, killing him on the spot,” said a Charbagh police officer. “A case has been filed against the unidentified culprit.”
