Two men were hospitalised on Tuesday with critical burn injuries suffered in an acid attack in Mandi Shah Jewana area of Jhang.

A police spokesperson said Shahid Sultan and his cousin Asif Ali, residents of Mauza Bhown, were on their way to a dera near their house on Monday night when two unidentified men riding a motorcycle intercepted them and attacked them with acid.

The attackers had fled the scene by the time a crowd had gathered there. Sultan and Ali were taken to Jhang Hospital for first aid. Doctors declared Sultan’s condition critical and said that he needed an immediate operation.
